Croplands, occupying approximately 13% of Earth’s land surface, are pivotal for global food security and sustaining human populations through providing essential resources for agriculture. Accurate and timely monitoring of cropland use provides critical information for resource management and decision-making at various levels. Recent advances in remote sensing technologies as well as data-model integration and AI technologies enable the mapping and monitoring of cropland use across multiple scales, e.g., global, regional and fields.
